Opting for EMI Moratorium? Do not send OTP to anyone

Due to Corona Lockdown many people in the country are facing financial troubles. To give some relief measures Reserve Bank of India has announced three month grace period for loan EMIs and Credit Card dues. In this time Cyber fraudsters has started to find new ways to scam the people. In some cases, fraudsters are calling customers to ask them for OTP to avail the moratorium announced by R.B.I to defer the EMIs. Once the OTP is shared by the customer, the fraudsters steal money from their account immediately. The only way to save from fraudsters is to be alert and be aware. Please remember that no bank will ask for your confidential banking details like User ID, Password, OTP, Debit/Credit Card Numbers, CVV Numbers, UPI PINs etc. to defer your EMI or interest payments.

Now, I am giving some tips to be alert from this type of fraudsters.

  1. Do not share OTP to get facility of EMI moratorium.
  2. Disable 'Auto Save' or 'Auto Complete' features on your mobile banking app.
  3. Do not save User IDs and Passwords for mobile banking and Internet Banking Customers.
  4. Beware of fake verification calls for giving your confidential banking details.
  5. Keep habit to check your bank accounts details to track your money.
